13th, 14th and 17th October

We’re giving the University notice of strike action over pay on Thursday 13th, Friday 14th and Monday 17th October.

This is because we can’t accept the imposed increase in August, which is so far below the cost of living that it represents a real terms pay cut of between 9% and 4%.

We’ll be organising picket lines and calling on all members to respect the democratic decision of our branch, where 82% of members voted in favour of strike action. Other UNISON branches have already taken action or are planning to do so. UCU are currently balloting all their members.

Obviously, this is not something we want to do, but we don’t have a choice if the employers expect us to work harder for less, year after year. The massive increase in prices means we have to campaign for more.

We’ll have more information available over the next two weeks, including our October newsletter and leaflets to explain our strike and why we feel we need to go ahead with it.

Please spread the word, join the strikes and if you need to, join our union!
